Scandi Nursery

Our playmat designs are based on Scandinavian interiors and in this blog I am going to show you how I decorated Florence’s beautiful nursery.

This is my favourite room in our little home and I thought very carefully about how I would decorate Florence's nursery.

First of all I needed to decide on the theme that I would go for, which was a Scandinavian jungle theme. I found inspiration from places such as Pinterest and social media. I knew that I wanted this type of theme from the very beginning of knowing that I was pregnant and before I even knew Florence’s gender. The first thing I bought was the safari cushion from a small boutique shop in Bath. I remember seeing it in a shop window when I walking past a shop and knowing straight away that it was going to be perfect for my little baby's nursery.

I decided that I wanted to have a feature wall and I knew that once I had found the right wallpaper then I could select the paint to go with it. I went for the safari wallpaper from B&Q then Farrow & Ball - Elephant's Breath. The colours we chose for our Playmats are actually inspired by Farrow & Ball paints (I bought so many different samples!).

We ordered bespoke shutter blinds and went for the thickest slats available (I think the shutters complete this room). I selected a very neutral carpet for the nursery; I originally wanted wooden flooring but our house is very old and we didn't want our little girl getting cold.

I bought a lot of Jellycat animals from The White Company for decoration around the nursery (they’re so soft!). We went for a sleigh cot that can be changed into a toddler bed and it has a storage draw underneath (so useful to have!).

I ordered some cute animal prints from a small business on Etsy and bought some made to measure white frames for them to go in. These were one of the first of the purchases for Florence’s room and I had been so excited to put them up. The rattan lampshade is from NKUKU.

We have a lot of Little Dutch wooden toys from Scandibørn that Florence loves to play with, in particular, her abacus bead rainbow and wooden car. We also bought her mammoth and trike from Scandibørn (we love their website!); they’re all such great quality.

The gorgeous rattan pram that you will see in most of our photos was made by a small business from Etsy and we adore this.

A lot of the other items in Florence’s nursery have been bought over the past year, like her teepee that we bought for Christmas (her Little Fae playmat fits nicely in there and is super comfy!), we decorated the inside with fairy lights to make it more cosy. The beautiful toy box (featured in our setup at The Baby Show) was bought for her birthday from Maisons Du Monde.

Oh and how can I forget about the famous H&M giraffe?! One of the best purchases ever.

I love this room so much and hope I have given you some inspiration.

Lots of love,

Little Fae xo
